I bought this puzzle for my Grandsons first birthday. The knobs on the puzzle pieces are perfect size for his little hands to grab and try to fit them back in. He also loves the pictures of the animals and points to them as we tell him the name of each animal. I love this puzzle and so does my Grandson!

Nice puzzle that my 1 y/o hasn't found a way to destroy
Bought for my 1 year old and he loves it. Nice, bright colors, and has survived him using the pieces to beat on everything in my house and using the base as a fun thing to stand on. I was worried that it might peel or start falling apart from him chewing on the pieces (he's teething) but so far it's survived his drool also :)

perfect for a one-year old!
i read both positive and negative reviews before deciding to order this for my grandson's first birthday. it is sturdy, well made and has no odor (per negative reviews). i like that it is big and has large knobs on each puzzle piece. my grandson immediately understood the knobs' purpose and found it easy to take the puzzle apart. beneath each piece is the same image of the puzzle piece, so it encourages matching the piece to its spot. well done, melissa and doug!

Great starter puzzle for young toddlers
This is a great, simple puzzle for young toddlers. I like that the knobs are big for my daughter's little hands. We have a 16-month old and we wanted one or two simple puzzles until she gets older and then we might get more puzzles if she likes them. So far she plays with this puzzle a few times a day. She mostly likes to take the puzzle pieces out and carry them around the house. I sit with her sometimes and help her put the pieces where they belong and tell her the names of the animals and the sounds they make. She can say dog and cat and do the noises, but she doesn't know bird yet. I like that theses are common household pets, too. My daughter is transitioning out of the chewing phase, so she hasn't been chewing on these pieces much. If a younger little one, like 12 or 13 months, chewed these a lot they could possibly start to chew the picture off and splinter the wood. I would be watchful of that if your little one is a major chewer still.

Awesome puzzle!
I'm a Pediatric OT and use these for my kiddos with physical disabilities. The large knobs make it easier to grasp and the picture is under the puzzle piece when you remove it. Always love Melissa and Doug!

Perfect for my 2 yo
Perfect for my 2 yo. The knobs are big and easy to grab. He loves telling me what it is when he's putting it in place. Also, when you move the piece the picture of the animal is still there not just the outline. Love this puzzle for my little guy.

Nice puzzle, much larger and brighter then expected and really thick wood.. I thought they were a little pricey but the quality is superb so I see why these cost a little more. Really pleased! I'll be ordering more. I ordered the 3 piece for my son's first Birthday because it's best for babies to start with chunky knob 3 piece puzzles and then work up to more pieces later, when they start mastering those. These are recommended for 12+ months. 12-16 months is a great age to start adding the 3 piece puzzles. I'll be ordering more.

Awesome starter puzzle.
The puzzle is a little bigger than I thought it would be, but that's not taking away from how great it is. The puzzle itself is very very well made. We own a bunch of Melissa and Doug puzzles, and some are just made a little better than others. All made in China, but I don't know if it depends on WHERE in China?? Haven't checked that detail out yet. Anyway, this 3 piece puzzle is a great starter puzzle for little people. The jumbo knobs make the pieces easier to hang on to, and the pieces themselves are very sturdy and have vibrant colors. I also love that they put the picture under the piece too, helping kids recognize where the pieces go back to. I love ordering from Amazon too, always cheaper than everywhere else, and since I'm a prime member, I get items super fast and don't usually pay shipping! (Guess that has to do with just not buying things that I'd have to pay shipping on too!) Great puzzle to add to the collection.
